SMOKED PULLED HAM:
Tender, juicy pulled ham infused with the sweet and smoky flavors of Cherry Hickory BBQ Sweet Rub. Smoked low and slow in apple juice, this dish delivers melt-in-your-mouth perfection with a touch of caramelized sweetness—perfect for sliders, sides, or savoring solo!

Ingredients:

  • 1 pre-cooked bone-in or boneless ham (3-4 lbs)
    *Note: No Spiral Ham
  • 2+ tbsp Holy Smokers Cherry Hickory BBQ Sweet Rub (plus more for seasoning during the cook)
  • Spray butter or olive oil (as a binder)
  • 1 cup cherry or apple juice
  • 2 tbsp honey (optional, for added sweetness)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ham:
    Preheat your smoker to 225°F-250°F.
Place the ham in a disposable aluminum pan.
Coat the ham lightly with spray butter or olive oil as a binder.
Generously season the ham with Cherry Hickory BBQ Sweet Rub, covering all sides.
  2. Smoke the Ham: The Boat Method & The Wrap
Place the pan with the ham directly on the smoker grates.
Pour 1/2 cup of apple juice into the pan to keep the ham moist.
Smoke for 2-3 hours, basting every hour with the remaining apple juice until the internal temp is 160°F. Wrap the ham in foil, then pan to cover and allow the ham to stay moist.
  3. Pull the Ham:
When the internal temperature of the ham reaches 201-203°F (probes like butter), remove it from the smoker leaving it wrapped in a cooler.
Allow the ham to rest for 45 minutes to an hour, keeping it covered with foil in a cooler or oven.
Shred the ham with two forks directly in the pan, mixing it with the juices for added flavor & additional Cherry Rub.
  4. Optional Glaze:
Drizzle honey over the pulled ham and sprinkle a light dusting of Cherry Hickory BBQ Sweet Rub.
Mix to combine for a sweet and savory finish.

Serving Suggestions:
Serve the pulled ham on slider buns for the ultimate BBQ sandwich.
Pair with sides like smoky baked beans, coleslaw, or mac and cheese.
Use it as a topping for pizzas, baked potatoes, or nachos!

Pro Tip:
If you like a little caramelized crust, uncover the pan during the final 20-30 minutes of smoking to let the ham develop a flavorful bark.
